A CARIBBEAN carnival attracted almost 500 people to a pub in Hazlemere at the weekend.

It was held at The Mayflower in Penn Road on Saturday.

Landlord Owen Reid, who runs the pub with his partner, Lise Johansen, said: "It went really well. We had a really good turn out- about 400 to 500 people.

"Everyone was saying it was really good.

"As soon as I turned up here everyone looked at me and said you should have a Caribbean night."

A band called Studio 5 performed and a singer from High Wycombe market called TK.

There was also face painting and a craft making stall.

The food was Caribbean themed with jerk chicken and curried mutton.

Money raised will go to OK - Our Kids, which is based in Saunderton and aims to produce educational resources for parents, primary schools and children to ensure children's health and safety in the community.

Two policemen from the area were also soaked in the ice bucket challenge to raise money for scout hut in Hazlemere, which was burnt down in July.
