Schoolchildren in Ibstone have been getting into the war time spirit to mark the centenary of the Great War.
Pupils at Ibstone Church of England Infant School have been discovering how the war started, experiencing life in the trenches and making trench cake.
Acting headteacher Louise Bristow said: “We decided to learn about World War One as we have a memorial board in our classroom to remember those from Ibstone, who served in the Great War.
“The children often talk about the memorial and with it being 100 years since the war started, we couldn't miss this learning opportunity.”
During World War One, every school had to keep a log book which was to be kept as a record of the events in the school’s history and the school have been publishing entries from the log book of 1914 in their weekly newsletters.
The log book shows that in 1914, pupils at the school made blankets, belts, pillow cases and knitted socks for soldiers on the front line.
The log book extracts can be found at www.ibstoneschool.org.uk
