Is it time to give your Christmas tree the chop? Residents in the South Bucks district have no need to fear as the council say it is easy to recycle them.

In a bid to getting 2015 off to a green start South Bucks District Council say real tree owners should recycle to prevent them going to landfill.

With garden waste collections stopping over the festive period, and not starting again until Monday, January 5, residents can instead take their waste to one of the Household Waste Recycling Sites nearby.

The sites can be found in Beaconsfield, Burnham and Langley, while used Christmas trees can also be taken to the Stoke Poges Memorial Gardens, in Church Lane, between Friday, January 2, and January 16, from 9.30am to 4.30pm.

Every tree collected will be turned into compost and prevents more waste going to landfill.

SBDC portfolio holder for the environment, Councillor Nick Naylor, said: “Whether you choose to re-plant your tree at home, take it to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre or use your green bin, there are a number of ways for South Bucks residents to easily recycle their Christmas trees this year.

“We hope that residents take advantage of the options available and help reduce the amount of waste going to landfill.”
