Policing in Marlow has been given a boost with the appointment of two new officers - bringing the town’s force back up to full strength.

PC Rob Duffy and PC Merlyn Evans will take up the empty posts at Marlow Police station to complete a full set of five PCs, eight PCSOs and a sergeant, Robin Hughes, working under Inspector Scott Messenger.

PC Evans returns to his Marlow post after serving an attachment to another force.

However, Insp. Messenger has reassured Marlovians that there has been no drop in policing numbers since the force filled the two vacant posts.

He said: "The really good news is we will be fully staffed again.

"We’ve back filled them with shift officers, so we’ve had the numbers but not necessarily the experience within the neighbourhood.

"They're perfectly proficient at their job but people want community officers, it’s better for them for us and the public if we have continuity of names and faces and we haven’t been able to provide that.

"We’ve had the numbers but not the continuity of people."

Police have had their work cut out this month after a spate of crimes at the beginning of January, including an attempted robbery at Lloyds Bank on High Street.
