College students are doing their bit to give something back to the community by painting the hall in a village football club.

A group of teenagers learning a painting and decorating course at Amersham and Wycombe College have been helping out this week to brighten up Flackwell Heath Minors sports club, in Green Dragon Lane.

Organised by their course tutor and the Minors, the group have been busy at work, while it will also benefit their coursework.

Course leader Pete Blaxley said: “We wanted to do something in the community so the students could learn but at the same time give something back.

“We have been so impressed with how keen they were to help.

“I think there are a lot of students and teenagers out there who are looked down on because people have bad views of them.

“But this goes to show they are not like that, they have been genuinely keen to help.”

In total about 13 students have been helping over the course of this week, while they have also been dealing with some of the theory work which goes into their examinations.
