A special service celebrating Commonwealth Day will be held in High Wycombe next week.

More than 700 flags are set to be raised at the same time across the globe to celebrate the Commonwealth and residents are being asked to join Wycombe District Council on Monday, March 9 for their own service.

An Affirmation of the Commonwealth and a message from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will be read outside the Council offices in Queen Victoria Road at 10am, before the Commonwealth flag is raised by Senior Aircraftsman Sanga Quamina, from RAF High Wycombe.

The ceremony will be hosted by Cllr Lesley Clarke OBE, the Chairman of Wycombe District Council, along with His Honour Christopher Tyrer, Deputy Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, Wing Commander Jones representing the Station Commander from RAF High Wycombe, Cllr Richard Scott, Leader of Wycombe District Council and Karen Satterford, Chief Executive of Wycombe District Council.
