Update: Man who died in Downley car crash is named locally

Police have confirmed that a man from High Wycombe died after a crash in Downley in the early hours of bank holiday Monday, as details emerge about the tragic incident.

At 2.20am yesterday a Volkswagen Golf was involved in a collision with a flat bed lorry and a Citroen Berlingo in Plomer Green Lane.

A passenger in the Volkswagen Golf, a man from High Wycombe, was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital where he died yesterday. His next of kin of has been informed.

Two other men travelling in the Golf were taken by ambulance to Stoke Mandeville Hospital.

One of the occupants sustained serious injuries and the other sustained minor injuries.

The road was closed while officers investigated the circumstances of the collision, and flowers have been left at the scene.

And, residents have today spoken of their "shock" at the tragic news.

Investigating officer PC Alastair Nicholls, from the Joint Operations Unit for Roads Policing, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who saw the collision or saw the vehicles travelling prior to the collision.

“If you have any information which could assist with the investigation please contact police.”
