An influential group of MPs will visit Buckinghamshire later this month to see where HS2 will go, it has been confirmed.

Members of the HS2 Select Committee will be paying a visit to the county for three days and examining how the planned route will affect the Chilterns.

The visit will begin at Chalfont and Latimer station at 10.15am on Wednesday, May 20.

Members will see where vent shafts for a tunnel through the Chiltern hills could be built at Chalfont St Giles, Amersham and Little Missenden, and hear concerns about the impacts of construction and traffic on residents.

Committee members will also visit several small villages in the Amersham and Great Missenden area before concluding the visit for the day at 4.30pm.

The following day they will look at the planned section of the line between Wendover and Fairford Leys, before taking in a site visit to Waddesdon Manor on the way up to Bicester on May 22.

The draft itinerary, which is subject to the result of the General Election, was announced this week.
