An oversubscribed girls secondary school in Little Chalfont has announced it will increase its intake of year seven pupils for the second consecutive year.

This year Dr Challoner’s High School granted entry for 180 students in six classes and will do the same for the 2016/17 academic year.

The increase allows girls living within approximately nine miles of the school the chance to secure a place versus a previous distance of around 6.5 miles.

The move meant this year all students who put the school as their first choice, passed the 11+ transfer test and lived in the catchment, got a place.

Head teacher Alan Roe said: “Probably the single most frequently asked question since I took over the Challoner's headship at the start of the term has been from parents wanting to know if we would repeat the expanded intake next academic year.

“It’s a shame that we’ve had to turn students away in previous years when they have set their heart on joining the school so we’re delighted we’ve been able to increase our intake again next September.

“This year’s additional Year 7 class enabled us to extend the reach of the school. Not only have we been able to accommodate all girls meeting the entry criteria within our catchment but we’ve also been able to provide a number of places for those just outside catchment as well.”

Dr Challoner's be holding an Open Morning on Tuesday October 13 from 9.30 - 11.15am.
