Hundreds of scouts as young as 11 years old took part in a demanding 12-mile hike in the Chilterns last weekend.

Nearly 300 hundred young people registered to take part in the ‘QUEST hike’ around Coleshill, Winchmore Hill and Penn Wood.

Teams of four or five started from the 2nd Amersham Common scout group headquarters at St Mary’s Church in Amersham Old Town at 2.30pm on Saturday and were given nine hours to complete the course.

Around 100 adults supported the teams between midday and midnight by manning 15 activity bases and providing important safety, transport and backup.

At each activity base, scouts completed activities to score more points with the aim of winning the ‘Golden Boot’.
