Two schools in Loudwater have bagged £500 after two of their pupils won a drawing competition organised by Tesco.

The store on London Road invited pupils from Loudwater Combined School and Marsh Infant and Nursery School to get creative by designing a poster showing what they love about Loudwater.

Eight-year-old Gabrielle Sarl, from Loudwater Combined School, and Isabelle Welch, five, from Marsh Infant and Nursery School, drew the winnings designs, which can now be seen on limited edition hessian bags that were given away for free to customers.

Gabrielle and Isabelle also won a £500 donation for their schools and a £25 gift card for themselves.

Store manager, Robert Folly, said: “Pupils in Loudwater must be very talented as we received many outstanding entries from both schools. It was very difficult to pick a winner but it was Gabrielle’s and Isabelle’s designs that really stood out for us as they show off what makes Loudwater such a wonderful community.

“We would like to congratulate both Gabrielle and Isabelle, the hessian shopping bags look fantastic with their designs on and our customers love them.”

The creative winners and some of their classmates went to the Tesco store to meet Robert and his team and they were presented with their prizes.

Head teacher of Loudwater Combined School, Clare Cunnington said: “Our pupils really enjoyed taking part in the Tesco drawing competition and we are very proud of Gabrielle. The hessian bags look amazing and are the perfect keepsake for Gabrielle to remember her achievement.

“We would like to thank the team at the Tesco store for involving us in this wonderful competition and for the £500 donation.”

Lesley Godwin, head teacher of Marsh Infant and Nursery school said she was “delighted” for Isabelle.

She said: “It is an incredible experience for her to see people in Loudwater carrying bags that have her artwork on. We would like to thank Tesco for this fantastic opportunity and for their kind donation.”
