Staff members at a supermarket giant joined forces with the High Wycombe community to raise money for Breast Cancer Care.

Around 40 people, including mothers and tolddlers, joined staff from Asda High Wycombe at Mapledean Children’s Centre in Cressex Road for a fruity Strawberry Tea Party to fundraise for the national charity.

Asda High Wycombe’s community champion Claire Poole said they were delighted to support the campaign which will help Breast Cancer Care to provide much-needed support for those affected by the condition.

She said: “It was fantastic to see so many people come and show their support and pledge to host their own Strawberry Tea parties over the next couple of weeks.

“Our colleagues and customers across Buckinghamshire and the rest of the UK have always been incredibly supportive of our fundraising activities and I know this time will be no different.

“The money raised through Strawberry Teas makes a real difference to people affected by breast cancer.”

Launched in 1998, Breast Cancer Care’s Strawberry Tea encourages supporters to hold a Strawberry Tea event in their homes, work or community to raise awareness and funds for the charity.

Hannah Branch, community fundraising manager at Breast Cancer Care, said: “We’re delighted Asda colleagues and customers are supporting Breast Cancer Care and Strawberry Tea this summer. We’d love more people to gather friends and family to host their own afternoon tea.

“The funds raised through each and every Strawberry Tea enable Breast Cancer Care to continue to be there for anyone facing breast cancer, from day one.”
