63 per cent of Royal Grammar School students achieved a full set of A* or A grades this morning.

The great hall at the High Wycombe grammar school was filled with nerves ahead of the important exam results being handed out – but most students were left happy.

Nearly 200 pupils picked up their results today, with headmaster Philip Wayne praising pupils, staff and families, after 100 per cent achieved A* to C grades.

He said: “GCSEs often mark the first set of official public exams a young person will take in their academic career and are the first stepping stone for future career choices and further study.

“My congratulations to every pupil receiving results this morning.”

Amongst the glowing set of personal achievements, 11 pupils gained 11.5 GCSEs at A* or A grade.

Matthew Landon picked up 10A*s and 2As, but said he wasn't 'expecting it at all' and was very pleased the hard work paid off.

16-year-old’s Rhys Gillespie and Ciaran Duncan both also secured 10A*s.

Boarders also performed highly with 75 per cent of grades being awarded at A* or A and 93 per cent achieved the English Baccalaureate.
