Students, parents and staff at Little Chalfont’s Dr Challoner’s High School were celebrating a ‘strong upswing’ in GCSE results, with 72 per cent achieving A* to A grades, up from 71 per cent last year.

The school in Cokes Lane also achieved its highest percentage of students achieving grades A* to B at 95 per cent.

Among the top achievers were Catrina Bomford, Zoe Bray, Georgina Cooper, Jessica Geneen, Madeleine Lacey and Ela Tandon, who breezed through with straight A*s.

Student Esha Patel said: “I was so happy when I opened my results – so glad all the hard work paid off.”

Head teacher Alan Roe said: “Few students are uniformly good at all subjects and therefore a hard-fought B grade can be a real victory.

“Congratulations girls, we are really proud of you.

“Also, thank you to our highly competent, experienced and dedicated teaching team who work hard to bring out the best in every student, whilst being mindful of the pressures on young people and ensuring that the girls are cared for and happy.”

Deputy head Amanda Meredith said: “What the figures do not show are our girls’ admirably well-rounded characters – we congratulate our students on their well-earned success, but also take pleasure in the way they have developed as young adults.

“We look forward to continuing to see them thrive and flourish as Sixth Formers.”
