A man from Marlow has been jailed for more than four years for a string of crimes including ramming a police car.

At around 12.49pm on February 21, Liam Hobson from Marchant Court, was driving along Ragmans Lane in Marlow Bottom when he was spotted by an off-duty police officer who raised the alarm.

Officers attended the scene and arrested the 21-year-old who made attempts to avoid arrest by driving dangerously and ramming a police car.

When he was arrested, Hobson was found with wraps of class A drugs, and a weapon fashioned out of a metal bar.

He was charged the same day and was sentenced to 50 months in prison at Aylesbury Crown Court on August 18.

At the same hearing he pleaded guilty to possession of class A drugs with intent to supply, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, driving whilst disqualified, using a vehicle with no insurance, resisting or obstructing a Constable, driving without due care and attention, and breach of a suspended sentence.

He was sentenced to three months' imprisonment for intent to supply, 35 months' for possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, and three months' for resisting or obstructing a Constable.

Hobson was also given another nine months in prison as he was already subject to a suspended sentence for previous drugs offences.

All of these offences will run consecutively meaning Hobson will serve a total of 50 months.

He has also been banned from driving for one year on his release, and will have to take an extended retest.

During his arrest officers seized drugs and paraphernalia, and £175 cash. The drugs and paraphernalia were destroyed, and the cash was donated to a local charity.

Investigating Officer, PC David Cannon, of Local Area CID, based at High Wycombe police station, said: "Hobson has shown that he has not reformed and I am pleased that we have been able to remove him from the streets.

"He evaded arrest, and showed a clear lack of respect for the law or for the impact his crimes have on communities.

"His arrest, conviction and sentencing shows that drug dealing and carrying weapons will not be tolerated in Marlow."

"It is also pleasing that the money seized from Hobson's criminality will go to help the local community".
