Luxury celebrity hangout The Ivy could expand into Marlow if plans are given the green light.

The Ivy Collection wants to open a café-style brasserie on Marlow High Street next year and has submitted plans for approval by Wycombe District Council.

The building is currently empty and was previously occupied by Clarks shoe shop.

The company's well-known London restaurant is a regular haunt for A-listers like Tom Cruise, Madonna, David and Victoria Beckham, Angelina Jolie, Uma Thurman and Kate Hudson.

The swanky West End restaurant - where grilled Dover sole will set you back £39.50 - has been a staple of the capital's social scene since 1917.

If the new restaurant goes ahead, it will be able to seat around 150 people and will have a garden area.

A planning statement submitted to Wycombe District Council says the proposed expansion into Marlow will "supplement and bolster the attractiveness of the Town Centre to tourists whilst also securing the long term vitality of the centre."

Two homes will be lost if the plans go ahead, but Sorbon Estates - which owns the building - says the loss of them "does not outweigh the economic benefits" of opening the high end eatery.

The application also says that the town is "well served with parking opportunities" that can "accommodate the parking needs generated by this proposal."

A spokesman for The Ivy Collection confirmed their plans to open in Marlow.

She said: "As of 9 September 2016 The Ivy Collection has applied for the grant of a Premises Licence for 66 - 68 High Street, Marlow, Buckinghamshire, SL7 1AH to open a café-style brasserie in spring 2017.

"The restaurant will feature an all-day dining menu and will be open 7 days a week. The Ivy Collection is a group of restaurants, brasseries and cafés, established in London, offering accessible, all-day dining for locals and visitors alike.

"Each location is carefully handpicked to value, reflect and add to the local area."
