Hundreds of people took part in a gruelling colourful obstacle course in Amersham in a bid to raise £30,000 for a south Bucks hospice charity at the weekend.

500 people flocked to the Penn House Estate in Penn Street on Sunday, September 25 to take part in Colour Blast: The Scramble in aid of Rennie Grove Hospice Care.

Competitors tackled a 5km obstacle course or a 1km colour run while being blasted with coloured powder to raise money for patients with life limiting illnesses.

Families and groups of all ages took part in the mammoth course which began with an energetic Zumba warm up run by Stefanie Stokes from Beaconsfield.

Competitors, Helen and Tim Murray from Holmer Green said: “The kids actually made us sign up – they saw the advert in the local paper so we decided to enter the 1k colour run.

“Our friends regularly use our local Rennie Grove shop, either to donate clothes or even do a bit of shopping.

“We heard of the charity due to some family friends using the service themselves. I think we are just looking forward to seeing the kids have fun today and enjoying the atmosphere.”

Teams included a group from the event’s sponsors Origin Global and the “Nunner's Runners”, led by Karren Nunnington, who were taking part in memory of Karren’s husband who died from cancer two years ago.

First across the 5km finish line was Ben Brocklesby from the Origin Global team.

Jo Turner, Head of Fundraising in Buckinghamshire for Rennie Grove Hospice Care said, “There has been a fantastic atmosphere today with people of all ages really embracing the challenge and enjoying some multi-coloured fun.”
