A day care centre in Princes Risborough has been awarded £5,000 by a masonic lodge for its “wonderful” work for residents.

Trustees at The Princes Centre said they were delighted to receive the “generous” donation from members of the Princes Risborough Masonic Lodge, which chairman of trustees Matthew Walsh said would be used towards the ongoing maintenance of the centre’s facilities.

The Clifford Road-based day centre runs activities for residents with particular emphasis on the provision of a “safe place” for older people and people with learning or physical disabilities, sensory impairments or mental health, to get support, learn or maintain life skills, and socialise.

Residents Bill Vincent and John Shepherd, who were recent masters of the masonic lodge and raised funds for good causes in their time in office, came together to make the donation.

Mr Vincent said: “We are delighted to help the Princes Centre, which does such wonderful work for the local residents, and those more vulnerable members of our community.

“It is also one of the varied ways in which Buckinghamshire Freemasons’ core values of ‘Friendship, Integrity and Charity’ are used to benefit and assist all the members of our society.

Mr Walsh said: “Donations such as this one from Risborough Freemasons make the difference between us just surviving and being able to grow.

“This money will enable us to carry out some of our projects and refurbishments, and keep our facilities in good order for all the local residents who enjoy coming to the centre.”
