Member of the team GB basketball squad, Joe Hart, visited children at a Gerrards Cross school last week and inspired them to take up sport.

Joe ran workshops at Gayhurst School on Bull Lane for the pupils in year 2 upwards, coaching them in passing, dribbling and shooting skills on Thursday, September 22.

The basketball star has travelled the globe for his sport and started playing when he was at Alleyn Court School in Essex – where the current head of Gayhurst used to teach.

A spokesman for the prep school said: “Gayhurst’s children were thrilled with Joe’s workshops and were inspired by what he has managed to achieve since his own school days.

“When asked what made Joe choose basketball over other sports he joked “because you can play inside in the warm”.

The 23-year-old went on to say he was inspired by his sister who used to play, and followed in her footsteps.

He added: “I found I had a natural aptitude for the sport so it seemed the obvious game for me”.
