Nadiya Hussain was the star attraction at this year’s Thame Food Festival at the weekend, which organisers said was “bigger and better than ever”.

The festival, which is in its ninth year, saw a host of famous faces including the Great British Bake Off star, celebrity chef Raymond Blanc and Masterchef 2016 winner Jane Devonshire.

More than 25,000 foodies turned out to the £80,000 event, leaving with “full tummies, overflowing shopping bags and big smiles”, according to organisers.

It featured more than 200 artisan food stalls, wine tasting, a pop-up pub and The Big Thame Bake, where keen bakers, young and old, were encouraged to enter their best creations to be judged by renowned bakers including Richard Bertinet and “chocolate man extraordinaire” Will Torrent.

The event took a year to organise by Alison Sherwood and food presenter Lotte Duncan

Organisers said on Facebook it was “a day to remember” and revellers “came, they ate, they shopped and they drank – and they didn’t want to leave”.

They added: “It was a corker of a festival and Thame had a ball.”
