Ten talented High Wycombe dancers were part of a world first on New Year’s Eve as they attempted to set a world record.
The largest assembly of Bharatnatyam dancers - an Indian classical dance form - danced simultaneously across five continents to pay tribute to the world farming community as part of the UDEAR Festival.
Ten students from High Wycombe-based Sesha Natiya Nikethan dance academy, which runs at Meenatchi Amman temple, along with their teacher Ananya Ainkaran performed in the event.
The dance was organised by the world based organisation Hidden Idol with around fifty thousand dancers participating worldwide and is now being considered for entry into the Guinness Book of World Records.
Mrs Ainkaran said “The main dance event occurs in India symbolising the work done by farmers and this festival is a tribute to their hard work.
"It was heartening to be part of such a big worldwide event that required a great degree of coordination at the artistic and administrative level to make it a complete success.”
