DELIVEROO rider from Buckinghamshire is preparing for a physical challenge to help anyone struggling.

Chesham resident and Deliveroo bike courier Alex Paul needed something to take his mind of after a tragedy struck his family at the end of last year.

He jumped on the opportunity to start training for a half marathon in support of Citizens Advice Bucks at London Landmarks Race in April.

He said: “Not only do I have a chance to give back to the community, I also get to run the race as well. It’s something to train for and it looks like a great course.

“I’ve already found that within a month of training I feel far more clear headed, I feel much less anxiety and stress, and that’s just from the combination of training and taking part in Dry January, and the combination of that has helped me mentally.

“I’m going dry straight through to the marathon – I feel too good at the moment, and see no desire to, plus I’ve saved a fortune.

“I have no desire to have a hangover!”

When he lived in Barcelona in 2017, Alex completed a half and full marathon.

The April race will take him through famous London landmarks as part of a team of five.

He has been enjoying running on the Chiltern Harriers team in preparation to the race.

Alex felt reassured to know Citizens Advice Bucks was there and on your side when need be.

“They’re a non-profit, so there’s no profit motivation to help you. They just do it from the goodness of their hearts and to help the community.

“Charity now it’s more important than ever, because we’ll be hitting a recession soon, and a lot of people will be needing advise,” he added.
