A new electric bike hire scheme has launched in two Buckinghamshire towns.
Buckinghamshire Council announced new e-bike hire schemes in Aylesbury and High Wycombe.
Twenty-five new power assisted e-bikes are now available for hire in the towns via the Zipp Mobility app, the same app used for the yellow e-scooters.
Cabinet member for transport Steven Broadbent said the “exciting” new e-bike trial makes cycling more accessible and helps people to “get around town in an affordable and eco-friendly way.”
“The addition of e-bikes to our existing e-scooter offering, means that people now have a choice of which wheels they want to use for commuting or leisure trips,” he said.
“We’ll be evaluating the trial scheme in a few months to assess the viability of making e-bike hire a permanent feature in the towns.”
How it works
To start pedalling, customers need to register through the app first.
Customers are required to take a photo of their driving licence and upload it on the Zipp app alongside a selfie to verify their identity.
Riding an e-bike or e-scooter costs 20p per minute plus a £1 unlocking fee.

The bikes can be picked up and dropped off at the same marked bays currently used for the Zipp e-scooter trial, with all bays visible on a map on the app.
The map also shows the ‘geo-fenced’ area that the bikes operate in.
Although the battery provides assistance to on hills, riders should still pedal.
Buckinghamshire Council advised residents to wear a helmet for safety.
