The residents at a luxury care home in Buckinghamshire have organised a French-inspired feast.
Portobello Place in Chesham hosted a special summer party for its residents and staff on August 8.
The residents enjoyed French wines while the home’s team donned striped Breton t-shirts accessorised with berets and garlic garlands.
The home’s head chef Richard Manzano, who is classically trained in French cuisine, created a three-course meal of traditional beef bourguignon and salmon en croute alongside tart tatin and poached meringues.
Manager at Portobello Place Catherine Emekwuo said: “Our French inspired afternoon was a great success. Our residents love to try different foods and being transported to different countries through music, taste and their surroundings being re-decorated!
“Events like these serve as a great time for residents to socialise with each other and perhaps be reminded of a memory thanks to the team’s great efforts of keeping up the French theme."
Singer Emily Yarrow performed the French classics 'La Vien En Rose' and 'Non, je ne regrette rien' after lunch and invited the residents to join in.
The care home was hoping to arrange "more themed lunches and celebrations" for other countries following positive feedback, Catherine added.
