A power cut has hit hundreds of homes in Buckinghamshire.

Homes have been left without electricity after an unplanned outage shortly after 9am on Tuesday (September 19) between Great Missenden and Wendover.

UK Power Networks warned that 494 customers in five postcode areas had been affected by the unexpected disruption and engineers were on their way to investigate.

The postcodes affected are HP16 9, HP17 8, HP19 9, HP27 0 and HP27 9.

UK Power Networks said: “We're sorry for any disruption this may have caused you. As this was an unexpected power cut, we didn't know it was going to happen so we were unable to give you advanced notice.”

At first, the power was estimated to be back on by 1pm, but now the provider has said the exact time is "to be confirmed."

The outage in the Little Hampden, Swan Bottom and Lee Common areas was caused by a “high voltage overhead electricity line fault,” the provider said.

Power was restored at about 10.20pm, UK Power Networks alert showed.
