Chiltern Railways has reassured its passengers after growing concern for bedbugs this winter.
The train company, which is the main operator in Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, has reassured nervous passengers how it is stopping bedbugs from hitching a ride on its trains, which transport thousands of travellers each day to and from London.
Although there have been no official reports of bedbugs in Buckinghamshire, there are concerns over a possible widespread bedbug infestation in London this winter.
A Chiltern Railways spokesperson said: "We would like to reassure customers that Chiltern has a thorough deep cleaning regimen in place. Specialist, industrial cleaning machinery and equipment is used on board all of our trains.

“Effective action can, and will, be taken in the event there is evidence of any infestation. Customers can travel with confidence knowing that we work around the clock to provide a clean environment onboard, and that we are alert to risks such as these and prepared to take action quickly."
Bedbugs are small insects living on furniture and bedding, causing itchy red bites after they feed on human blood while they sleep.
The insects can travel long distances by hiding in suitcases and clothes.
The best way to get rid of bedbugs is by alerting the council or a pest control service for help.
