Train passengers have been told to check their journeys before travelling at the weekend. 

Chiltern Railways warned passengers about possible cancellations and last-minute changes during the New Year’s Eve weekend.

New Year’s revellers can take a train back from London as Chiltern Railways announced additional late-night services from London Marylebone to Buckinghamshire and beyond.

Here is a recap of what Chiltern Railways services will look like during the bank holiday weekend.

Saturday, December 30

A normal Saturday timetable is expected to run on Saturday, December 30, but there is a “risk of a small number of short notice cancellations” due to shortage of train crew.

“Customers are advised to check their journey carefully immediately before travel and to bear in mind that they may not be able to catch their train(s) of choice,” Chiltern Railways said.

Short notice cancellations are expected between London Marylebone and Aylesbury Vale Parkway via Amersham and “some services” may be a rail replacement bus.

New Year’s Eve, Sunday, December 31

A normal Sunday service is expected to run but there is a risk of some short notice cancellations like on Saturday.

No trains will run between London Marylebone and Aylesbury Vale Parkway via Amersham due to maintenance works at Stoke Mandeville and rail replacement bus will operate between Beaconsfield station and Aylesbury Vale Parkway.

Here are the additional late-night services from London Marylebone.

  • 00:30 to High Wycombe
  • 00:45 to Oxford
  • 00:50 to Banbury (will connect with rail replacement buses at Beaconsfield for Amersham and Aylesbury Vale Parkway)
  • 01:35 to Oxford
  • 01:40 to Banbury (will connect with rail replacement buses at Beaconsfield for Amersham and Aylesbury Vale Parkway)
  • 02:00 to Aylesbury via High Wycombe (will connect with rail replacement buses at Beaconsfield for Amersham and Aylesbury Vale Parkway)

New Year’s Day, Monday, January 1

Passengers can expect a slightly reduced and amended weekday timetable. However, services will start later than normal.

No trains will run between London Marylebone and Aylesbury Vale Parkway via Amersham because of the works at Stoke Mandeville.

Rail replacement bus will continue to run between Aylesbury Vale Parkway via Amersham to Beaconsfield for connections to and from London.

Tuesday, January 2

Chiltern Railways timetable will return back to normal.
