The second wife of children’s author Roald Dahl has been named in the New Year’s Honours list.
Felicity ‘Liccy’ Dahl, (nee D'Abreu), will receive a Damehood (a DBE – a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire) for her services to philanthropy, literature and young people.
The 85-year-old founded the Roald Dahl Museum as an independent charity in 2001, with the Great Missenden-based building opening in 2005.
In a very brief statement on Facebook, the museum said: “Liccy founded the Roald Dahl Museum and worked tirelessly to establish the Museum which opened in 2005.
“We can’t thank Liccy enough for her time and generosity over the years.”
The two were married for seven years between 1983 and 1990 but were together for 11 years before their wedding.
The author lived in Great Missenden from 1954 until his death, residing in Gypsy House within the village.
He died at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.
