It is believed that numerous Reading fans will make their way over to Adams Park this evening to protest the pending sale of their training ground to Wycombe Wanderers.

The transaction of Bearwood Park, which is set to cost the Chairboys roughly £25m, which is half of what the Royals paid for the complex five years ago, is expected to be completed this month.

However, fans of the Berkshire outfit have expressed their anger and concern that the club’s owner, Dai Yongge, is selling their only valuable asset in a quick-fire sale to pay off crippling debts to pay off outstanding notices.

In a statement that was published on March 14, Wycombe revealed that the move will ‘provide Reading with necessary financial support to ensure that they can meet their ongoing financial obligations.’

The news has seen Reading fans create and sign a petition to halt the sale, whilst anti-Wycombe banners have been erected at both of the club’s respected training grounds.

In an open letter to the public from the Sell Before We Dai movement, they confirmed that national media and supporters of the club will attend Adams Park in the evening of March 15.

A section of it reads: “Bring your banners, scarves and flowers to mark the death of a 152-year-old football club creeping ever closer and stand together against football’s ownership problem.’

It continues: “We invite Wycombe fans and the wider community against this sale to stand with us this evening.

“Our issue is not with Wanderers’ fans, but your owner is sadly showing signs of being as unscrupulous as ours.

“We hope you didn’t in time follow the path we’re on.”

The protest is set to start at 6pm.
