A supermarket in Wooburn Green has reopened after a glass door was smashed 'by criminals' early this morning.

The Tesco Express on The Green was reportedly put under a police cordon early this morning (April 1), following an incident that involved the smashing of a glass sliding door.

The supermarket has been closed for most of today, but it reopened to customers at around 4:30pm.

While staff members on-site declined to comment on what had happened, an employee at The Red Lion pub next door said: "An alarm went off at the Tesco very late last night.

"My partner and I live above the pub, and it woke us up at around 1am.

"There were lots of police about after that, but I'm not sure what happened. It looked like they knew what they were doing."

Julie Creswell, who drove past the supermarket at around 10am, said she thought it had been “targeted by criminals”.

She said a police cordon and officer presence were in place at the time.

Thames Valley Police has been contacted for comment.
