SO farewell then, Richard and Judy (at least from Channel 4).
I used to like their show but, let's be honest, it's lost its sparkle in recent years.
It also pains me to say this (people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones either) but I will anyway...while youthful Richard still manages to be very presentable, ageing Judy often looks like something that just crawled out of a swamp.
This fact was the elephant in the room when the pair hosted a discussion on plastic surgery recently.
Columnist Amanda Platell skirted delicately around the 'Judy issue', even mentioning a bit of minor work she'd had done herself.
All eyes switched to the crumpled figure beside Richard, her spiky blonde bob failing to hide the effects of spending over 20 years at the coalface of live telly.
Even with umpteen layers of make-up between her and the viewer, you could almost hear the nation shout as one:'For God's sake, woman, have a nip and a tuck ! Nobody will hold it against you !'
How the show's plastic surgeon interviewee managed to hold his tongue I'll never know.
The funny thing is, I'm actually dead against plastic surgery for women in all but the most extreme cases.
However, in my view, Judy's IS an extreme case.
People who regularly appear on TV do need to look better turned out than the rest of us. Not nice, but true.
And before anyone jumps to Judy's defence, let's remember that she collects a massive annual cheque for being on screen and, as a journalist, has dished out her own brickbats down the years.
So she could at least spruce herself up a bit.
