Unfriended stars Courtney Halverson and Jacob Wysocki have revealed that making the horror film has made them more cautious about their online presence.

Unfriended follows a group of friends in an online chat room who are haunted by a supernatural presence that terrorises them over their dead friend’s Skype account.

Courtney said: “I never want to be on Skype again. We had to be on it for 12 hours a day during filming so I haven’t used it since.

“I don’t trust people now, I’m too afraid now and I’ve put a little bit of masking tape right over the lens as a precaution.”

The 25-year-old actress added: “I’ve always been pretty cautious with social media because I’m a lady and you’ve got to be careful because there are some weirdos out there. I’ve always been quite reserved on Twitter and Instagram and that also comes from being an actress and being in this business for so long now, so I’ve always understood that nothing you do is private and nothing you do will forever remain a secret.”

Co-star Jacob admitted to also being nervous about who can see his posts, but more out of fear of his own mother than any vengeful supernatural being.

He said: “I always have my mum’s voice in the back of my head saying ‘don’t post stuff if you don’t want people to see it’ so I have to be careful because I know she’s snooping.”

Unfriended is in cinemas now.
