TOM Howe hasn’t had much of a first team look in this season after Wasps bolstered their wing options during the summer.

But the Marlow flyer who made his Wasps debut at Welford Road and played against Saracens in his follow up is hoping the return of the LV=Cup will open some doors for him again.

After a block of Premiership and European fixtures, Wasps can exhale with games against Sale and London Irish in the competition that is now established as a finishing school for squad players.

Howe said: “Having all these new transfers is great for the club and in training it’s great having all the wingers to play with and against.

“It’s amazing what a different perspective on the game they can give you.

“For me, I’m just waiting for my opportunity. Game time won’t be the same as last year, when I got the odd first team call ups, but we just have to see what happens.

“Hopefully I’ll get the chance.”

Even with the departure of Johan Holmes, Howe hasn’t had even the hint of gap to burst through with Christian Wade, Tom Varndell and Sailosi Tagicakibau sharing two places between them.

Howe said: “It’s difficult to come to terms with at first, but at the same time I’m still young and developing so it’s understandable.

“This year I’m looking at the LV=Cup. The Premiership is the next step. Hopefully in the seasons to come I’ll get the chances.”
