MAX Kretzschmar believes Peter Murphy's scoring touch has influenced his Wanderers team mates into being more prepared to take a chance in front of goal.

Murphy came with a reputation for goalscoring when he arrived from Accrington in the summer, having netted nine times for Stanley last season.

And his run of six goals in 16 games is one most seasoned strikers would be proud of and Kretzschmar hailed his fellow midfielder's influence - even though it means he's set to miss out on a pre-season wager.

The 21-year-old said after seeing Murphy score for the second match running against Dagenham and Redbridge: "He's brilliant. He's got that physical presence - his last two goals have been headers. He's not just getting tap ins, he's scoring all types of goals. It was another really important goal today.

"We had a little competition at the beginning of the season but I'm miles behind him now."

Kretzschmar added: "We're getting goals from everywhere and everyone's chipping in. Left side, right side, strikers - we're strong from set pieces so defenders can score as well.

"Goals aren't a problem at the moment. We had that problem last year where we only had two or three main goalscorers and not many contributions from elsewhere.

"It's an improvement from last season where we weren't creating chances.

"The gaffer wants us to be bold and brave and take chances, even if it's blocked or saved. It gets the crowd all geed up and improves the atmosphere in the stadium. Nobody's going to be scared to shoot."
