Bucks suffered their third straight defeat in the Unicorns Trophy on Sunday when they went down to an eight wicket loss against Oxfordshire.

The county are bottom of the five teams in group four with their latest setback following defeats to Berkshire and Staffordshire in their opening two fixtures.

Bucks lost the toss and were put into bat in seamer friendly conditions at Wormsley, with the visitors making immediate headway.

Opener Shaan Khan (4) fell with just the fourth ball of the innings before Jack Scriven (4), Michael Payne (0), Hamza Riazuddin (2) and Robin Pritchard (15) fell in quick succession to leave the hosts reeling on 43-5.

The weather then intervened forcing the players off the field and reducing the match to 35 overs a side.

When play resumed George Russell (19) departed before a stand of 59 for the seventh wicket between Dan Hampton (48) and Matt Rance (32) steadied the ship.

A thunderstorm caused further delays before Bucks eventually reached 152-8, leaving Oxfordshire a target of 148 by the Duckworth Lewis method.

That score was reduced to 128 from 31 overs when bad light stopped play, and Oxon made short work of their run chase.

Simon Stanway dismissed Joe White for a duck in the first over but Hugo Darby (51) and Lloyd Sabin, who hit an unbeaten 62 off 74 balls, steered the away team to victory inside 29 overs with help from Jonny Cater (8).

Bucks will aim to win their first match of the competition when they take on Herefordshire at Brockhampton on Sunday.
