St Vincent and the Grenadines international Gavin James will hope to be involved in the next phase of qualifying for the 2018 World Cup after the draw for the third round was made.

The former Bucks New University student won his first two caps last month as the Caribbean island overcame Guyana to reach round three, and he will hope to be involved again when they play Aruba in a two-legged tie for the chance to progress.

Big guns Jamaica and Canada enter the qualifying process at this stage, and having successfully avoided the aforementioned pair St Vincent can look forward to a clash a side who currently occupy 135th place in the FIFA World rankings, 20 places below the Vincy Heat.

St Vincent have only progressed to round four, where the teams enter a group phase, of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying on four previous occasions – 1994, 1998, 2002 and 2006 – and have never reached the finals themselves.

Dates are yet to be set for the two-legged tie against Aruba but the matches will take place over the course of August and September with St Vincent hosting the first leg.
