Wycombe Wanderers manager Gareth Ainsworth says he is content with the 0-0 draw his side picked up against Notts County.

The Chairboys failed to create any clear cut chances in a match which saw County go closest to finding a winner.

The result sees Wycombe strengthen their hold on seventh place in League Two and Ainsworth was pleased with the battling draw.

“We’ll take a point away from home. They have new manager syndrome with Mark Cooper coming in and a few teams will be getting turned over here believe you me,” he said.

“I can understand that people want to see goals and want to win games, but people don’t want to see their team go out of existence.

“Everyone wants to win 3-0 every week, but that doesn’t happen in football. With seven games to go, to be two points either side of Leyton Orient and Portsmouth is a decent position and I am proud today.”

Wycombe rode their luck at times and could easily have lost if County’s finishing had been better. They did however have a strong penalty appeal turned down after Joe Jacobson’s cross hit a County hand.

The result was therefore a welcome one and must be viewed in a positive light when the Blues’ injury list is taken into account.

They were without Luke O’NIen, Sam Wood and Matt Bloomfield as well as Marcus Bean who was absent through suspension.

Ainsworth explained: “We had a bench of Jerell Sellars, Ryan Sellers and Rowan Liburd who have three starts between them today.

“The state of the club and where we are players wise at the moment means I am really pleased with the point.

“We could have had a penalty and got all three points, but we could have got none as well, because Ryan Allsop has pulled off a fantastic save late on.”
