Chesham United have announced management team Andy Leese and Jon Meakes will lead the club next year.

It will be the pairs’ 10th season in charge at the Meadow and will take them past the 500 game barrier in charge of the Generals.

There had been speculation surrounding Leese’s future in recent weeks, but the United boss was pleased to have agreed a new deal to keep him at the club.

“It’s been an unsettling period of late, but I am delighted we have been able to reach an agreement,” Leese said in a club statement.

“We have had some great times, none more so than this season and we want to build on that and keep progressing.

“I will be helping the Chairman with some of the initiatives and changes that are needed to move forward as the game waits for no one.

“I think this will bring some other people closer to the club and we can have a positive summer of planning and building.”

Chesham’s season concluded with a 1-0 Berks & Bucks Senior Cup Final defeat on Monday as they lost out to Aylesbury FC.

While the result sees the season end on a sour note, Chairman Brian McCarthy is pleased to have retained the services of his long serving management team.

He took time to highlight the constancy Leese and Meakes have brought to the club, as well as praising a season which has seen the Generals produce a memorable run to the FA Cup second round.

“Andy and Jon have given us a sustained period of success in their time here and we want to continue with that," he said.

“They always strive for the top five positions in the league and this year was no exception. However, we could not have expected the amazing cup run and the injuries along the way which Andy feels affected our consistency.

"We demand a lot as a board as the club’s traditions demands we do. I will be sitting down with Andy and Jon and agreeing objectives next week.

"We will also be working to pull all the strands of the club closer together as we enter our centenary year. After a difficult few weeks I am really looking forward to the summer."
