Finals night of the Amersham & Chiltern Darts Club League saw a number of thrilling matches played in both the Men’s and Ladies’ Singles and the fours competition.

The Ladies singles final saw Penn & Tylers Green SC’s Sarah Mallott take on Vicky Carlton of Cressex CC E.

It was Mallott who took the initiative and retained the title she won last year with a comprehensive 2-0 victory.

With 16 teams facing off for the right to be crowned champions in the fours event it proved to be a high quality competition.

Phoenix Club and Penn & Tylers started as favourites and showcased their strength to progress through the first round with ease.

The sides would meet in the second round and played out a tense match which Phoenix ultimately won 2-1.

Phoenix would then go on to beat Riverside Club in the semi-final to set up a final against Holmer Green Legion A.

Green had enjoyed serene progress to the final but could do little to stop a dominant Phoenix side as they swept to their first success in the fours event.

Their team was made up of Kim Payne, Curly King, Brian Witney and Liam Burgess.

Burgess would experience further success as he and Ken Shirley beat Mallott and Leigh Birch to win the pairs final.

The Men’s Singles proved to be a high quality tournament as Phoenix Club were once again the top performers.

Both Burgess and Witney advanced to the final to ensure Phoenix would leave the event at Hazlemere CC with a clean sweep of trophies.

It would not be a treble for Burgess though as Witney came out on top in the tight encounter to record a narrow 2-1 win.

With many of the season’s main tournaments now decided the Darts Presentation Night will be held at Penn & Tylers Green SC on Friday.
