Chesham Stags coach Jonny Reynolds has been selected as one of four finalists in the National Rugby Football Union (RFU) Presidents Awards.

Reynolds has been nominated in the “People Power 14-25s” category for young volunteers in rugby and has been instrumental in re-establishing a Colts team within the Stags.

The Colts team runs for players aged between 17 and 18 and provides a pathway into the club’s senior squads.

Reynolds’ work has led to the Stags being able to field a Colts team in a regional league for the first time and has drawn praise from other members at the club.

“Jonny has done a fantastic job re-establishing the Colts,” said Junior Chair Graeme Youngs.

“A healthy Colts programme is crucial to the club as it provides a gateway for young people into our senior sides.

“Jonny has come up through our mini and junior system himself and is now making a real contribution back to the club. He is a great role model for our current youth players.”

Reynolds will discover if he has won the award at the national finals, which will be held at Twickenham on Sunday, May 29.

RFU President and Rugby World Cup winner, Jason Leonard, will host the event which will include a complimentary three course meal and tickets to watch England take on Wales.

Leonard stressed the importance of the awards which are designed to recognize and reward volunteers working in the rugby world.

“Across the game thousands of volunteers continue to freely give up their time so that others might play,” Leonard said.

“These volunteers are literally worth their weight in gold and rugby would not function without them.”

Chesham Stags are constantly on the lookout for new members and would like anyone interested in joining their Colts, mini or junior teams to email juniors@cheshamrugbyclub.com.
