Having proven they had the quality to dominate at regional level, Maltman’s Green School’s gymnastics team went one better at the National Championships.

The under-11 girls’ team, which comprised of Laura Richards, Rebecca Nash-Steer, Grace Short, Olivia Rowan, Isabel Whitburn and Tara Sadlier, were all on top form as they beat 12 other schools to claim the floor and vault titles.

The competition took place in Stoke and saw the gymnasts compete across a number of disciplines, including floor, vault, sports acro and tumbling.

Maltman’s students also helped to make up the Southern Region Team which saw them compete alongside gymnasts from Chalfont St Peter to win the George Finney trophy.

Sunday was an equally successful day for Maltman’s as Amber Whitefoord and Olivia Rowan finished sixth in the acro competition.

The event was so closely run that the Maltman’s pupils missed out on a gold medal by just one mark.

The school would go even closer in the sports acro group competition as they finished 0.2 points off a podium finish in fourth place.

Finally, Sadlier and Whitburn took part in the tumbling competition and achieved 12th and 19th position respectively.
