Last Season’s Wycombe Wanderers Supporters’ Player of the Year Jason McCarthy has joined Walsall on loan until January.
The 20-year-old Southampton player became a fans’ favourite after enjoying a highly fruitful loan spell at Adams Park during the 2015/16 campaign.
He was a mainstay in the Wycombe defence from October onwards and scored twice in 39 appearances as the Blues kept a record number of clean sheets.
Upon returning to Southampton in May, McCarthy expressed his desire to continue playing regularly and stated he would be happy to take another loan deal in order to do so.
The centre-back even suggested a return to Wycombe was not entirely out of the question, but any hope of such a deal materialising has now ended.
He will hope to help Walsall improve on the play-off semi-final appearance which saw them miss out on promotion after suffering a defeat to Barnsley last season.
