Wycombe Wanderers’ summer rebuilding project is gathering pace with Myles Weston becoming Gareth Ainsworth’s third summer acquisition.

The 28-year-old Antigua international arrives at Adams Park after being released by Southend United at the end of his contract in May.

The midfielder has put pen to paper on a two-year deal and Ainsworth is pleased to have acquired his services ahead of pre-season commencing.

He said: “Myles is just the type of player we wanted to bring pace, creativity and a goal threat, and I am really happy to have him with us.

“I know he’s an exciting player to watch and his career so far shows he’s capable of playing at a higher level, so bringing him here is a real coup for the club.

“I have seen Myles play on both the wing and up front and he’s a big threat in either position.”

Wanderers’ fans will have bitter memories of Weston after he supplied the cross for Southend’s late leveller in the League Two play-off final of 2015.

He also scored in the 1-1 draw between the Chairboys and Brentford in 2010 and put in an impressive display for Gillingham against the Blues in 2012.

After starting his career at Charlton, Weston enjoyed a two-year loan spell at Notts County where he made 73 league appearances before agreeing a switch to Brentford in 2009.

A move to Southend followed five-years later, and Weston went on to play a pivotal role in their promotion to League One as he bagged eight goals throughout the 2014/15 campaign.

The former England youth international player played 20 times in League One throughout last season before being released by the Shrimpers.

He joins Paris Cowan-Hall, who arrived on loan until January yesterday, and Dayle Southwell as Wycombe’s signings this summer.
