Legendary spectators were in attendance at the Wormsley Estate on Sunday to watch Beaconsfield CC’s junior players take on Aston Rowant.
Some of the game’s biggest names descended on the picturesque scene to celebrate West Indian great Sir Garfield Sobers’ birthday and 50 years of independence for Barbados.
The match itself saw Beaconsfield’s youngsters run out 19-run winners to claim the inaugural Flicx trophy as Sobers, Chris Broad and Mike Gatting watched on from the pavilion.
The trophy was presented by 2005 Ashes winner Simon Jones who later played for the PCA Masters as they took on a Barbados Legends team.
The match saw fellow Ashes winners Matthew Hoggard and Geraint Jones joined by Owais Shah, Mark Ramprakash, Alex Tudor and Devon Malcolm in the middle.
PCA earned a comfortable seven wicket win as Shah and Ramprakash top scored with 61 and 62 respectively.
The club’s younger members were treated to net sessions from the players, who also signed autographs and took pictures, throughout the day.
