Wycombe Wanderers manager Matt Bloomfield has described the club’s pending purchase of Reading’s Bearwood Park Training Ground as ‘exciting news’.

The Chairboys are set to acquire the state-of-the-art complex from the Royals for roughly £25m.

The date on when the transaction will be confirmed has not been set, but a statement issued by the Adams Park side on March 14 revealed that ‘parties are moving forward on an exclusive basis with the expectation of completion’.

He has also jokingly admitted that there’s ‘too much talk’ about the club’s EFL Trophy final against Peterborough United on April 7.

He said: “There’s a lot going on as I keep hearing Wembley a lot and, if I’m honest, a bit too much for my liking!

“I want us to concentrate on our league form as I’m that guy that keeps saying ‘stop talking about it’ [the EFL Trophy final], as we’ve got games between then.

On the training ground, he continued: “It’s been very exciting news.

“I’m so excited for us as a football club to make this big step forward.

“The impact the Couhig family have had on our football club has been huge.

“People forget that they took over just before Covid and enabled us, the players and staff, to get paid during a time when other people weren’t as fortunate.

“We got to the play-offs, we got to the Championship and the experiences I’ve had in my life that the Couhigs have given me are brilliant, and I’m proud to have them involved in our club.

"They have football in their heart and want the best for both Wycombe and Reading."
