Wycombe Wanderers manager Matt Bloomfield has praised club captain Joe Jacobson as he celebrates 10 years at the club.

Jacobson, who joined the Chairboys on a free transfer from Shrewsbury Town in the summer of 2014, will be honoured with an ‘Evening with’ event on March 19.

Fans will head to Adams Park this evening [March 19], to hear tales about the Welshman’s decade at HP12.

Several ex-players such as Adebayo Akinfenwa, Nathan Tyson, Craig Mackail-Smith, Marcus Bean, Scott Kashket, Anthony Stewart, Dominic Gape, Nick Freeman, Sam Saunders and Sam Wood are all due to make an appearance at the one-off night

Bloomfield said: “I honestly cannot think highly enough of JJ as a person and as a player.

“He has been instrumental in the success this club has had in the last 10 years, and when you look at some of the signings the gaffer [Gareth Ainsworth] made, like with him and Bayo [Adebayo Akinfenwa], they made us quality.

“That moment when he scored the winning penalty to send us up to the Championship is up there as one of the greatest moments in the club’s history.

“He’s been quality for this football club, but the friendship we’ve had over the years is important to me.

“He’s someone I think highly of and I’m pleased he’s able to be celebrated in this way as no one deserves it more.”
